The Hairdresser
At the age of nineteen I was still living at home with my parents and I therefore knew a number of their friends and social contracts. One friend of my mother, who I would place in her mid-fifties (the friend, not my mother) ran a hairdressing business from her home and after the local barber had made a bit of a mess of my hair at my previous visit, my mother suggested that I may like to go to her friend next time.
